Vitalik Buterin is Russian-Canadian programmer who rose to prominence following the release of Ethereum. Vitalik buterin is the co-founder of Ethereum, publishing the whitepaper in Toronto in 2012, at age 17. While at school, Buterin was placed in a class for gifted children, finding that he was drawn to maths, programming and economics. He was is also able to calculate three-digit numbers in his head. In June 2017, Buterin was the subject of a death hoax that originated from 4Chan.
Buterin also works as an advisor to OmiseGO, Kyber.Network and Akasha. In August 2017, Buterin released a draft of the Plasma project, a blockchain implementation designed to bundle transactions. Additionally, Ethereum is also working on Ethereum 2.0, also known as Serenity. It’s a system upgrade that will transition the network from a proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm, tackling scalability issues.
