Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the person or group of people who developed Bitcoin, authored the Bitcoin whitepaper, and created the original reference implementation. While the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown, there are several theories as to possible identities. One such theory is that it’s actually Craig Wright who has publicly stated numerous times that he is, in fact, Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright, however, has yet to provide any evidence in support of this.
It’s generally believed that at one point in time, he had control of wallets that held as much as 1 million BTC that has never been spent. At the peak of the crypto boom, that would have given Satoshi a fortune of nearly $20 billion.
