Happy Pizza Day! 8 things 10,000 BTC could get you today

Today marks the 9 year anniversary of one of the first major Bitcoin transactions to be recorded, the infamous 10,000 BTC transaction that saw programmer Laszlo Hanyecz purchase two Papa John's pizzas for what was, at the time valued at roughly $40.

Fast forward 9 years and the $40 pizza transaction that used obscure magic internet money, is now one of the most notorious Bitcoin transactions in history, as well as one of the (or THE) most expensive pizza transactions in history. Chepicap looks at 8 things 10,000 BTC (roughly $80 million) could get you today.

In today's terms, Hanyecz paid $40m per pizza. While the programmer could have not fathomed that Bitcoin would be as successful as it is today, the transaction remains a telling story to the success of Bitcoin in the short space of 9 years.

Here is the transaction recorded on the blockchain, scary to think the Bitcoin fee was 0.99 BTC

While it would be fair to say that Hanyecz was a true early adopter and probably did not realize BTC would take off as it did, or if it would even take off at all, what could Hanyecz purchased with his 10,000 BTC if he had held until today?

Halls Pond Cay Island, Bahamas - $75,000,000 (9,375 BTC)

Looking for a crash pad to host FYRE 2.0? Or perhaps a safe haven for John McAfee and the Freedom Boat to come and hangout?

Airbus A220-100 - $80,000,000 (10,000 BTC)

Free flights for life comes at a cost of $80 million. The bad news is that gas is not included.

8 Bedroom 15,722 sqft Lakefront Condo Crystal Bay, Nevada - $75,000,000 (9,375 BTC)

Family retreats here would mean you probably wouldn't see your family for days!

4 x Bugatti La Voiture Noire - $76,000,000 (9,500 BTC)

Why flash one of the worlds most expensives cars, when you can flash four of them

80 Kanye West private concerts -  $80,000,000 (10,000 BTC)

What could be better than droning out your wealth in Kanye West beats, just kidding.

All 24 bottles of The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60-year-old Whisky - $26,000,000 (3,250 BTC)

For those days when you feel like you just need to pour yourself a whisky, and at $36,000 per shot, you will literally be pissing excellence after a bottle of the most expensive whisky ever sold on an auction.

Lebron James for the season - $36,000,000 (4,500 BTC)

Need a drinking partner for your $1m bottle of whisky, why not hire Lebron James for the season. Or two, if he doesn't ask for a raise after the first year.

The entire circulating supply of MATIC - $56,000,000

Perhaps you are super salty because you missed the recent MATIC pump which saw the coin fly 1000% in 10 days. Have no worry, you could purchase the entire circulating supply and have your own pump and dump party with 2.16 billion MATIC of your own

The best part is, you will also be able to purchase the entire circulating supply of PEPE Coin for $780,000, and airdrop it to all your peasant friends as the perfect MEME.

Ultimately, 10,000 BTC in today's terms would allow anyone to retire comfortably. There is no doubt that Laszlo Hanyecz wakes up every year on May 22 and wonders what he would have done with 10,000 BTC if he did not purchase two lousy pizzas with it.
