TD Ameritrade set to launch cryptocurrency offering with ErisX exchange

TD Ameritrade appears to have launched their cryptocurrency offering, in partnership with ErisX—a regulated exchange, following weeks of speculation.

Electronic trading platform and broker TD Ameritrade has gone live with their cryptocurrency offering, well not quite live, but Bitcoin futures are available. The new page on the TD Ameritrade website describes that the company has "invested in ErisX, an innovative company that plans to offer traders access to cryptocurrency spot contracts, as well as futures contracts, on a single exchange."

The news was well in the works, but has now come to fruition, and will see over 11.5 million users now being able to trade spot and futures contracts for cryptocurrencies.

TD Ameritrade admitted that ErisX is still in product development and obtaining regulatory approval, so crypto trading is not fully active as yet, but clients that qualify, can currently trade bitcoin futures.

Currently, no fees for trading cryptocurrencies on the exchange have been announced yet. All eyes will be on the broker to see when they offically launch, which also has not been confirmed when that will be.
