Chainlink surges 26% following major Ethereum announcement

Chainlink has seen 26% gains over the last hour following an announcement on Consensus 2019. The project announced that the Chainlink Mainnet on Ethereum will go live on May 30th.

In a talk during Consensus, CEO Sergey Nazarov shared the news with the community. According to Nazarov, Chainlink is more than ready for this move. "We have been able to succesfully complete three security audits, without any really critical issues remaining. So fundamentally, from a security point of view, we feel we are in a position that we can go live on the Ethereum mainnet."

More details will be shared in a statement next week, the CEO said.

Nazarov is extremely excited about this development. "The fundamental value of this is that we will be able to provide decentralized oracles for the existing dApps on Ethereum and the many, many dApps that aren't on Ethereum yet. Working with many dApp teams, we know a lot of dApps are very interesting and will go live this year on Ethereum."

Following the announcement, $LINK, the Chainlink token, surged 26% to $0,85, with the project jumping to spot number 30 on Coinmarketcap. Chainlink is now the best performer in the top 100, together with XRP.

Chainlink aims to connect smart contract to payments, events and real world data through a decentralized oracle network. With Chainlink, you can easily connect smart contracts to APIs and send payments from your contract to payment networks and bank accounts.
