Hester Peirce at Consensus 2019, on BTC ETF: Time was right a year ago

Today saw Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) member Hester Peirce speak at Consensus 2019, with a message that combined her disappointment about current regulation and optimism about what the future holds. She feels a big part of the path forward is for the crypto community to help have a dialogue to "educate" the SEC.

One aspect of the discussion centered around her concern that the US is falling behind due to a lack of meaningful regulation. Other nations are more directly involved already with digital assets.

She also, when asked about if the time is right for a Bitcoin ETF, explained that she feels the time has been right for a while now:

A large part of her message, though, had to do with the importance of the crypto world itself taking responsibility and actually helping the SEC to come up with useful regulations:
