BitTorrent Inc. completes fourth BTT airdrop

The fourth free giveaway of BTT by BitTorrent Inc. has been completed successfully. The team behind BitTorrent Token regularly airdrops BTT as a reward to Tron (TRX) holders, through various exchanges.

BitTorrent Token was first launched back in February, after a successful ICO for the project raised around $7 million. The first round of the airdrops went ahead on February 11, with Tron users receiving around 0.1 BTT for each TRX they held on an exchange. Bittrex, Binance and many other leading trading platforms are participating in the scheme, which is scheduled to continue until 2025.

BTT has strong connections to the Tron project, making use of the TRX blockchain in order to develop the technology. It could have a number of interesting use cases including the ability for BitTorrent users to speed up their downloads with a BTT-based bidding system.

While being part of the popular Tron eco-system could be useful for a new decentralized content network, many observers on Twitter are questioning why TRX holders are being rewarded with BTT, while BTT holders themselves receive nothing. The continuous inflation of supply through airdrops is also drawing complaints from those who are holding on to their tokens and looking to see more price gains, in the wake of BTC's recent rally.
