Joseph Lubin: Tron and EOS are projects that fake it 'til you make it

Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, recently joined Tom Shaughnessy, co-founder of the New York-based crypto research firm Delphi Digital to discuss blockchain, Ethereum’s competition and it's future and more.

In the latest episode of Shaughnessy's podcast, Lubin was asked about Ethereum’s competition, which includes projects like Tron and EOS. Regarding these competitors, Lubin revealed he didn’t see any of them as major threats, stating that they’re projects that “fake it ‘til you make it.”

“Good events anywhere in our ecosystem lift all boats, and some projects are certainly intending to be competitive with Ethereum,” Lubin states. “Some projects are focusing on marketing to be competitive with Ethereum, Tron and EOS in that basket and both of them have kind of taken the approach of ‘raise a bunch of money and fake it ‘til you make it’ basically, and we’ll see how that goes.”

Despite his jab at the competition, Lubin admits that there are many good projects in the crypto, “many of which have had close ties to Ethereum right from the start.” Additionally, Lubis states “its an amazingly collaborative ecosystem.”

On this note, Lubin speaks on the openness of the crypto space which has resulted in numerous collaborations between competing projects.

“The amazing thing about this technological moment in time, or this particular technology is that it’s all done out in the open. Open source is the ethos.”
