Grayscale launching US wide advertising campaign #DropGold

Chepicap recently reported on an interview with Barry Silbert in which he promoted the value of investing in Bitcoin over gold. This all comes as the #DropGold campaign gets underway from Silbert's investment firm Grayscale, which is pushing investors to switch from investing in gold to investing in Bitcoin with a new commercial that will be coming to televisions all across the US.

The new advertisement can be seen on and basically pushed the idea that gold is the investment of yesterday, while digital assets, like Bitcoin, are the investment for the future. It has been revealed that this commercial will be airing nation-wide in the U.S.

It does seem like this may be the first real effort for a company to promote Bitcoin and other crypto investing on a truly nationwide scale, at least in the US. Previous attempts, like those from the Winklevoss twins, have generally been focused on just New York City.

Some in the crypto space have come out as favorable towards the new campaign, as Tuur Demeester points out that this will, hopefully, bring gold advocates into the crypto sphere in increasing numbers:

Some however, like Erik Voorhees, have suggested that gold and crypto can, and need to, co-exist:

Ultimately it remains to be seen if this will move gold investors to switch, or if it will bring new investors on board. Nonetheless, it is refreshing to see an ad campaign that is so widespread that is pushing the merits of digital investments. Will it lead to greater adoption?
