BSV experiences 6th reorganization, network stuck for 1.5 hours

According to Nikita Zhavoronkov, a lead developer at BlockChair, Bitcoin SV experienced a series of block re-organizations, which caused the network to be stuck for at least 1.5 hours.

'Whoops!', the lead developer tweets. 'BSV has experienced yet another reorg'.

BitMEX took as well to Twitter to explain that its BSV node experienced 2 block re-organizations. First, a 3 block re-organization, followed by a 6 block re-organization.

They included a graphic which illustrates the events, including the block heights, block hashes & block sizes of the relevant blocks.

BitMEX went on to explain that it detected two valid competing chains, with a split, occurred at block 578,639. BitMEX’s node reportedly followed the chain on the left until block 578,642, which further jumped over to the right, which in about another hour jumped back to the left side.

BitMEX notes that no double spending appears to have occurred.

When asked what this all means, BitMEX stated that the Bitcoin Cash SV network is not reliable for payments, the block size limit is too large and network latency is too high.
