Craig Wright files lawsuit against Peter McCormack

The whole Craig Wright debacle is heating up as the controversial entrepreneur has finally filed a lawsuit against podcaster Peter McCormack, accusing him of writing a libelous series of tweets about Wright in March and April over Wright’s claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

Filed in the High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, the lawsuit is seeking damages of £100,000 ($129,890), Bloomberg reports. It’s also seeking an injunction to prevent McCormack from publishing similar comments in the future.

Wright has also warned Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum co-founder, that he’ll be sued for defamatory comments as he too has accused Wright of being a fraud and scammer on Twitter as well as at Deconomy last year. Additionally, Twitter user Hodlonaut has been accused of defamation.

Wright's issuance of warnings has resulted in his cryptocurrency, Bitcoin SV being delisted from several prominent exchanges, including Binance and Kraken.

The lawsuit came as no surprise. In an interview with Bloomberg recently, Wright warned that he would sue McCormack. Wright explained he was targeting both McCormack and Buterin because of their level of influence in the cryptocurrency space. The self-proclaimed bitcoin creator argued that by going to court, he will have the opportunity to prove he’s Satoshi Nakamoto. Time will tell.
