Binance announces mainnet launch date: April 23

Earlier today Chepicap reported on Binance’s cryptic tweet hinting at the launch of either Binance blockchain, or the decentralized exchange, or both. Now, however, Binance has provided a little more insight, confirming the launch and of its mainnet on April 23. A mainnet swap is planned for the same day.

Binance has published a list of actions that will be performed between today and the 23rd. Beginning with today, all pre-selected validators will be online to produce blocks with consensus from the genesis block. Additionally, BNB will be created in the genesis block.

Furthermore, the exchange explains how Binance Chain BNB (BEP-2) will be managed:

·  The initial total supply of BNB wull be 200,000,000

·  As with the ERC20 BNB, 11,654,398 of the total BNB supply will be burned on Binance Chain

·  48,000,000 BNB will be frozen, same as the ERC20 BNB

·  5,000,000 BNB will be allocated and deposited into Binance to convert the ERC20 BNB for existing owners. The 5,000,000 ERC20 BNB will then be burned

The exchange goes on to explain that the Binance Chain Explorer and Web Wallet will remain in beta testing, opening to the public on April 23, and no intial trading pairs will be listed until the first batch BNB conversion has occurred.
