Bitcoin now accepted at largest travel management firm in UK

The UK’s largest travel management firm, Corporate Traveller, has announced that it is going to start accepting BTC for payments, according to a press release on April 15.

This news comes due to a partnership with BitPay, the crypto payments company. BitPay is going to give Corporate Traveller the ability to accept Bitcoin as payment. According to Andy Hegley, the U.K. General Manager at Corporate Traveller claims that this was a demand by Corporate Traveller’s clients. Hegley also explains why they chose BitPay and feel it is the right fit:

“We identified an increasing demand from our clients for the option to pay in bitcoin for business travel bookings made by our travel consultants. We chose BitPay to manage our merchant processing because they make it easy and handle the entire process of getting the Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash from the customer and depositing cash into our account.”

With how much Bitcoin has fluctuated in the bear market, Corporate Traveller is still unphased. This is due to the BTC being converted directly into British Pounds, with BitPay charging a 1% commission to convert the funds. The commission is also not concerning for Corporate Traveller due to it being cheaper than credit card processing.

Corporate Traveller isn't the only one in the travel and tourism industry to accept crypto due to the demand from their customers. They now join the German National Tourist Board, that announced in March 2018 that it is now accepting various crypto for payment for its services.

BitPay on the other hand is growing as companies and individuals are looking to pay for more everyday services and items with cryptocurrency. BitPay just recently reported that it saw over $1 billion in transactions last year, with no signs of slowing down.
