Square CEO Jack Dorsey is hiring Bitcoin developers

The CEO and founder of mobile payments company Square has announced that the company will be hiring people to make contributions to the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency eco-system. Jack Dorsey, who is also the co-founder and CEO of Twitter, made the announcement via his own account.

Dorsey has been a fan of Bitcoin ever since he first saw the whitepaper as a young cypherpunk, and Square's Cash App has been integrating crypto payments almost two years now. @jack recently revealed that he has been investing heavily in BTC for many years, and has acquired a Trezor hardware wallet for storage. He also predicted a huge acceleration in crypto technology over the next 10 years.

This most recent move could be a significant development for the crypto eco-system. Square will be giving full-time paid work to five individuals, in order to contribute to its progress. As well as four coders, a designer will also be hired, and everything they create will be open-source.

These five contributors may be part of a new 'Square Crypto' subsidiary. Dorsey linked to a newly-created Twitter account with this name, which so far has just one tweet - a retweet of the first ever mention of 'Bitcoin' on the pioneering social media platform.

Many major influencers in the crypto community have reacted positively to this enthusiastic enDorseyment of BTC and crypto, although some saw fit to question why Square couldn't have offered even more positions.
