Tor project now accepts Monero for donations, also moving away from Bitpay

It has been reported by AMBCrypto that the Tor project recently added Monero (XMR) to the list of cryptocurrencies it accepts for donations. In other news the project also announced it will be moving away from Bitpay for donations and instead be using its own private wallets.

The Tor project develops the Tor browser, used for private web browsing as well as access to some websites only available through the Tor network. Now, Monero joins a growing list of cryptos accepted by the privacy focused project. Other coins include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Stellar Lumens, Dash, Ethereum, ZCash, Bitcoin Cash and Augur.

In a similar vein, the Tor foundation did reveal it is looking to move away from the Bitpay platform for its donations and instead is looking into other solutions such as lightning network and direct donations into private wallets.

These moves bring the world of crypto and privacy even closer together, and hopefully more users will help support the great work the Tor project is doing.
