CEO of Cornerstone blockchain firm kidnapped in Ukraine

A blockchain startup CEO has been kidnapped in Ukraine. Cornerstone's Gregory Kucherkov was taken hostage at gunpoint in the capital of Kiev on Sunday, as reported by CCN.

Cornerstone is a blockchain startup that is focused on the real estate industry, developing ways to digitally tokenize assets. It is planning to launch an ICO sometime in the near future, and has already raised some capital through a private token sale.

Police believe that the funds already acquired by Kucherkov's company may have made him a target for kidnappers. No ransom or any other kind of demands have been made yet.

This is not the first time that blockchain businessmen have been attacked in Ukraine. Towards the end of last year, a successful Bitcoin miner was robbed for over $500,000. Back in 2017, blockchain specialist Pavel Lerner was released by kidnappers after his family paid a $2 million ransom, and he told police that he had been taken by government agents.
