#DeleteCoinbaseTrustChain creator: “still too much ambiguity”

The turmoil surrounding Coinbase’s acquisition of Hacking Team-staffed Neutrino seemed to enter a closing phase yesterday when the U.S.-headquartered exchange announced the “transition” out of the company of the employees who had been involved with the infamous spyware provider.

However, for some in the crypto space, the explanations provided by Coinbase to the public about the measures they will undertake to solve this issue are not enough. The exact scope of the measures is still unknown, as the way of putting it forward on a note authored by Brian Armstrong is rather unclear:

“We took some time to dig further into this over the past week, and together with the Neutrino team have come to an agreement: those who previously worked at Hacking Team (despite the fact that they have no current affiliation with Hacking Team), will transition out of Coinbase.”

Udi Wertheimer, an Israel-based Bitcoin developer and consultant, has been a very active figure in the DeleteCoinbase movement over the last week, and sent out a thread a few hours ago reflecting on the conclusions announced by Armstrong. He also seems to believe that the terms of the apology offered by the company are rather ambiguous:

Indeed, the "transitioning out" expression does not seems to be the best choice of words for indicating an immediate, irrevocable termination in functions. Further, it does not convey nor guarantees a sense of certainty that the wrongful association will serve as a lesson for the future.

Wertheimer became one of the central figures of DeleteCoinbase after coming up with an idea to remove the “dust”, or amounts of crypto below transaction minimums, that is piled up into many Coinbase accounts and does not allows users to close them. Those in said situation can tweet their “dust” amounts with the hashtag #DeleteCoinbaseTrustChain, and then other users will come to pick up the small amounts of crypto.

05 Mar, 2019 - 22:48
After recent news Coinbase lost some present and potential users.
05 Mar, 2019 - 23:29
why coinbase has not been ever punished for the things they do at the company? what about insider trading of newly listed crap tokens?
06 Mar, 2019 - 12:06
i also do not understand. they have done suspicious activities and still operate. definitely coinbase is a fraudulent place

It's funny that coinbase actually announced the news about the partnership with neutrino all over everywhere. They were under impression that no one will find out about those spies apparently.
06 Mar, 2019 - 21:12
coinbase will lose all the customers after such activity
06 Mar, 2019 - 23:18
definitely coinbase tries to hide all the info about hackers
but in this way coinbase can still have a partnership with them.. that's not very good
07 Mar, 2019 - 00:01
coinbase as a scam will not tell the real true
07 Mar, 2019 - 21:44
coinbase never was transparent and now this scam again confirms the status of unreliable platform
07 Mar, 2019 - 22:22
so many lie from coinbase to hide the real information regarding stolen data
07 Mar, 2019 - 23:29
There is no ambiguity. Everything is so clear. Coinbase is a scam
08 Mar, 2019 - 21:12
it's absurd that coinbase doesn't allow to delete the account
it also can block this account and steal all the assets
08 Mar, 2019 - 22:16
Coinbase hires spies first and then pretends that is didn't know anything about it
08 Mar, 2019 - 22:34
Coinbase can't apologize for being a cheater. How can you be sincere in this?
10 Mar, 2019 - 19:30
It seems to me that coinbase pretends that it didn't know anything about the unreliability of these employees and it won't fire them
10 Mar, 2019 - 20:17
Coinbase wants to spy and manipulate its users initially, so it connected with Neutrino
10 Mar, 2019 - 20:45
i am sure that one day coinbase will to answer for each and every fraud actions they have decided to make. at least I hope so
