#DeleteCoinbase: Kraken reaches out to Coinbase employees

A representative of the Kraken exchange has thrown serious shade in the direction of leading crypto broker Coinbase. In a tweet, Austin E. Alexander (@BTCismoney) suggested that Coinbase employees should join him at Kraken.

The #DeleteCoinbase movement has been gaining some serious momentum in the crypto community, after it was launched earlier in the week in response to news that Coinbase had acquired Neutrino. Some members of the Neutrino team were part of Hacking Team, a software firm known for its contributions to oppressive state surveillance and other serious privacy violations.

Coinbase's explanation that it was just leveraging Neutrino's expertise to improve its own security measures didn't do much to alleviate the pressure, and around 1000 Coinbase users have deleted their account so far.

This latest tweet from @BTCismoney, who has added #DeleteCoinbase after his name on Twitter and is posting a lot about the controversy, is now inviting Coinbase's staff to join the movement. The initial tweet was followed some hours later by a more official announcement encouraging developers to join Kraken, a "real" crypto company.

This isn't the first time Kraken has been used as an example of a superior crypto exchange. A petition for the trading platform to take over QuadrigaCX's business gained some traction at the start of February.
