The top 10 XRP accounts, according to Forbes

Thanks to the use of a well-known algorithm, Forbes has curated the top 10 XRP accounts...

While, presumably researching the top XRP wallets and their holdings, major online media outlet, Forbes, came across a novel way to speed up proceedings, by applying an algorithm used by Google’s PageRank, a system used to (you guessed it) rank websites by their importance and quality.

This is calculated by the number of links to a website, the more there are the more important it is and vice versa.

Forbes realized that this algorithm could be applied in the same way to the XRP ledgers, using the PageRank algorithm to locate central nodes as well as similarities between them.

The publication even created a pretty visualization of this data:

The large holes displayed in the center of the visualization depicts the central nodes and clusters.

Using the PageRank algorithm, Forbes created three subgraphs based on payments made in 2016, 2017 and 2018, denoting a list of the 10 most important accounts on the XRP ledger:

Finally, it was revealed that the top XRP accounts are owned by Binance, followed by Poloniex and an unknown holder.

According to the publication, an initial look to the 2019 graph shows a shift in importance between accounts, with Binance just barely keeping the top two positions.
