ETH Constantinople & St. Petersburg hardfork to happen at block 7,280,000

Ethereum will undergo a network upgrade at block 7,280,000, estimated to occur on February 28th.

The date for Ethereum’s long-awaited hard fork is approaching. Initially set to happen on February 25th, the countdown is now reset to happen 5 days from now.

The official announcement stated that the scheduled upgrade will happen at block number 7,280,000, which according to Amberdata.io, it is likely to occur at February 28th.

The long-awaited hardfork will bring major changes to the Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), which will affect several things, such as core protocol specifications, client APIs, and contract standards.

But, that’s not all. Since there were several accidental forks happened in the past caused by the confusion of the previously-cancelled hardfork, the upcoming upgrade will also include a reversal to the original Constantinople changes.

The new addition is called St. Petersburg and scheduled to occur on the same block number as Constantinople.

Despite the controversies, Ethereum has seen good days in the crypto market lately, which is probably related to the hardfork’s confirmed new schedule. As of writing time, ETH is valued $148.16 with $3,634,038,803 trading volume in the past 24 hours.

Let’s hope that this time there won’t be another delay, so Ethereum would be on the right track to fulfill all the positive predictions for this year.
