The rumors are true! Samsung confirms S10 will include crypto key storage

As it turns out the formally dismissed “rumor and speculation” surrounding Samsung’s latest phone have been verified as true; the company’s new frontrunner will include secure storage for cryptocurrency private keys.

In a press release yesterday, the company unveiled the features of the new Galaxy S10, specifying one attribute, in particular, that was bound to raise a smile from even the most hardened crypto aficionado.

The press release reads:

“Galaxy S10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as a secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”

The S10 is the first of a few phones updated for the cryptocurrency era, among contemporary devices such as HTC’s Exodus 1, the so-called “first native blockchain phone,” will also come equipped with an integrated cryptocurrency wallet, capable of supporting multiple blockchains such as big hitters Ethereum and Bitcoin, and even comes preinstalled with the Brave browser as default.

Rumors surrounding wallet integrating within the Galaxy S10 have been circulating for quite some time, reaching such prominence last year that Samsung actually dismissed the speculation as false.

Redditors voiced their various opinions on this latest piece of adoption:

However, not all were pleased. One user felt as though the wallet integration was played down:

With Samsung leading the market as one of the largest manufacturers of smartphones this is a huge boost to crypto adoption and usability, worldwide.
