Digital gifting platform Swych adding support for crypto next week

Dallas-based mobile gifting company Swych announced on Friday that it will start accepting cryptocurrencies for payments in order to become involved with this “revolutionary technology,” Forbes reports.

The mobile app allows users to buy virtual gift cards for people from over 600 retailers like Old Navy, Amazon, Nike and Bana Republic. If the recipient doesn't want a card from one particular store, they have the ability to switch it for another store.

Swych makes use of payment providers like Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Amazon Pay. However, As of next week, users will be able to pay using digital assets like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum Classic.

CEO Deepak Jain explained that the adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to grow as more and more people are becoming involved in the space, making it “inevitable that consumers will be looking for ways to spend their digital assets.”

“Swych hopes to be one of the first companies pioneering this new way to spend,” he added. “We feel we are ahead of the game considering most retailers have not yet chosen to accept crypto payments. In keeping with Swych's mission of providing our consumers with choice and flexibility, we'd like to provide new options based on our customers' needs - crypto integration is one of the many requests we've received.”

While the company will be limited to five cryptocurrencies for the time being, Jain stated that they will add support for more in accordance with their customer's needs.
