Cory Johnson has stepped down as Ripple's chief market strategist

It has recently been reported by Coindesk that Cory Johnson has left his role as chief market strategist at Ripple. It seems that the role was eliminated from the company, though it is not clear at this time exactly why.
Johnson joined Ripple early last year and since then has acted as the spokesperson for the company many times. While it is unclear what prompted the removal of his position, a representative from the company said this:
"Cory’s last year at Ripple was a success in representing the company to investors, press and regulators. Cory helped Ripple with strategy internally and overall industry education. But due to changes in market conditions, we’ve chosen to eliminate the role of Chief Market Strategist."
It sounds like Ripple may be downsizing, but overall the statement is vague. In any event it looks like Johnson is moving on. This does come on the heels of news that the company is looking to hire new developers and expand operations on its xCurrent project.
