Whale Watching: The Ripple show as XRP whale moves 1 billion tokens ($302m)

XRP appears to be making big waves in the news over the course of the past few weeks. xRapid looks to be gaining in popularity with the latest announcement that the world's leading payment processor SWIFT could be looking to partner with Ripple. All the news and hype surrounding Ripple could easily be the reason we see XRP whale moves dominating this week.

This week of whale watching features only two cryptocurrencies, BTC and XRP.

XRP whale moves appear to be gaining in popularity after last week saw XRP take three of the top 5 whale movement positions. The cryptocurrency has done one better this week by claiming four of the top five moves. BTC manages to cling onto third spot with XRP taking the rest.

XRP whale moves have grown in prominence over the course of the last two weeks, following last weeks 463 million XRP worth $136m move from Ripple to Bitstamp. This weeks top spot more than doubles last weeks top move.

Also included this week is two special mentions. Two XRP whale moves from Ripples escrow wallet directly to Ripple. The internal transactions have not been included in the top five, however are significant in size, accounting for a total of $239 million.

Most of the XRP whales moves appear to be institutional OTC buys, at least that would be the most plausible conclusion for some of these moves. The only BTC move on the list sees Binance move 10,888 BTC to an unknown wallet. This could potentially just be a new wallet for Binance to hold funds. Lets hope funds are safu.

While it's absolutely normal to see such movement on binance it's terribly stupid to make such movements to bitstamp because there are no people who use it anymore and such sums are impossible.
