Denmark to utilize IOTA tangle for green energy initiative

It is being reported by U.Today that Energinet, a transmission system operator in Denmark, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IOTA in hopes of building a greener energy grid. This is hopefully just the first step in utilizing blockchain technology to build smarter cities.

Energinet is trying to bridge the gap between modern Internet of Things (IoT) devices with traditional energy grids. The team discovered IOTA as a novel solution as the platform is designed for IoT purposes.

This could go well beyond just basic energy conservation and could in fact pave the way for smart cities of the future. Denmark's government is very enthusiastic about the possibilities, and the nation is already among the greenest in Europe.

It will be fascinating to see how the roll out of this technology proceeds. Hopefully in the coming years we will see greater blockchain integration across many platforms allowing for the rise of truly futuristic services in smart cities.
