Dutch bank ABN AMRO launches experimental Bitcoin wallet

With many of its citizens taking part into the Bitcoin ecosystem, Dutch crypto enthusiasts are seeing one of their main banks trying to get closer to them.

ABN AMRO, one of the leading banks of the country, will be running an experimental BTC wallet with 500 customers in response to their interpretations of the needs of their customers.

The news became public a couple of hours ago on Twitter, when user @Rw_Hendriks got in touch with the bank to enquire about what appears to be a screenshot of one of the 500 invitations which have been distributed to participate in the experimental wallet program, dubbed as Wallie:

On a reply to another user who highlighted the contradictions of a bank opening a crypto account, ABN AMRO replied stating that the reasons behind their experiment are the concerns about storage posed by the growing Bitcoin investors among its clients.

ABN AMRO appears to be giving serious consideration to cryptocurrencies, as another tweet exchange revealed that they are currently in conversations with the Dutch financial regulator, the AFM, in order to find their role in the crypto economy.

Further details came through an exchange of messages with Dutch crypto site Lekkercryptisch, where the bank revealed that the experimental programme would last for 4 weeks.
