EOSIO version 1.6 release reportedly increases transaction speeds by 35%

EOSIO version 1.6 has just been released. Not only is the update a stable release, but according to the team’s own benchmark test, the update provides at least a 35% increase in likely transaction speeds.

According to the release, the team state that these updates should increase the efficiency of the peer-to-peer networking layer and real-time transaction throughput which leads to an overall increase in transaction speeds.

“Our own internal benchmark tests show upwards of a 35% increase in likely transaction speed when using token-transfers-per-second as our base case,” the announcement reads.

When testing the EOS software on a private network, the team is projecting “noticeable improvements to sustainable transactions per second, reduced CPU costs, and lower latency on all EOSIO based blockchains.”

In keeping with EOS's goal of being one of the fastest protocols on the market, this release also includes several other performance improvements. The full list of changes can be found on Github.
