Ethereum jumps Ripple to take back second spot in market cap

Ethereum has taken back second place according to Coinmarketcap, leapfrogging Ripple for the first time since November 14 2018.

Ethereum has seen a massive recovery over the past month and a half, with the price surging to over $140 in 2019.

Ether hit a new low in 2018 reaching roughly $86 while XRP remained pretty steady during the end of 2018. This saw XRP take the jump to second spot and remain there until 2019. However, it has taken just two days of the new year for Ethereum to take back its rightful position.

The leapfrog can be attributed to an 8% increase in price in Ether over the past seven days with XRP seeing a decline of 5% in same period.
