Last week, a representative for DASH Merchant claimed that KFC would be the latest company in Venezuela to start accepting DASH payments. Now, an announcement has been made that this will in fact not be going ahead as stated.
The announcement that KFC would be adopting DASH in Venezuela was definitely a significant one, although not hugely surprising given the popularity of the crypto in the country, and the recent moves by Subway and Papa John's to start accepting DASH payments. Escalating hyper-inflation in Venezuela has led many to turn to DASH and other cryptocurrencies as more reliable methods of payment than the national fiat currency, the Bolivar.
However, it appears that this announcement was either based on false information or was jumping the gun a little in an effort to promote the achievements of DASH. An apology and correction was issued on Twitter by the Venezuelan Dash Merchant account.

According to the statement, discussions are still going ahead to test DASH adoption in one KFC restaurant in Caracas, but the initial announcement of nationwide adoption was based on "optimism", as opposed to any actual agreement.
