The hunt for Satoshi Nakomoto continues

The search for the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin has been a long and arduous one, and we’re still no closer to revealing his identity, however there have been some solid guesses along with way.

Amongst the popular front-running candidates is computer scientist and cypherpunk Nick Szabo, who (at the very least) laid the foundation for Bitcoin with his creation of Bit Gold, Satoshi even noted this in a forum:

Dr, Craig Wright is also on the list albeit a substantially less popular suggestion. In 2015 an anonymous email to Gizmodo stated that Wright was Satoshi Nakamoto, this was followed by a police raid, to which officials later stated was “unrelated”. In 2016 Wright publically declared himself to be the Bitcoin creator but lacked any evidence to corroborate his claim

Now a new and less propagated theory has surfaced from Jeff Garzik, an early contributor to Bitcoin and lead developer of BitPay.

In a conversation with Bloomberg, Garzik spoke of his “personal theory” that the late Dave Kleiman, a former Florida police officer turned computer forensic expert, is the famed enigma:

“It matches his coding style, this gentleman was self taught. And the Bitcoin coder was someone who was very, very smart, but not a classically trained software engineer.” said Garzik

Ironically Klieman’s estate is currently undergoing a lawsuit with non-other than Dr. Craig Wright over the rights to 550,000 BTC as well as intellectual property; the claim states that wright approriated the aforementioned when working with Kleiman.

interestingly, Wright claimed that Klieman helped create Bitcoin, although Wright didn’t allege to be Satoshi Nakomoto until after Klieman had died, leaving no way of corroborating this.
