Major European film company's Twitter account hacked to promote Bitcoin scam

In the latest attempt at scamming users out of their cryptocurrency, Pathé, the world’s second oldest film company, and Europe’s second largest studio, had its official Twitter account hacked in an attempt to spread a fake Bitcoin giveaway, Hard Fork reports.

The hacker promised to double the investment of anyone who sends a small amount of Bitcoin to the specified wallet. In an attempt to further legitimize the scam, Pathé’s account was updated to impersonate Elon Musk.

Pathé seems to have regained access to their account as the original tweet has been deleted. Its avatar and display name have also been changed to remove any mention of Elon Musk. Before deleting it, however, the tweet had over 850 retweets and 3,700 likes.

Before the tweet was deleted, however, the hacker managed to claim several victims. The wallet linked to the scam has received a little over 6 Bitcoin, roughly $38,000 in the last 24 hours.

This is far from the first time something like this has happened and Twitter continues to receive flak for their failure at preventing these types scams. In fact, it's now so bad that Twitter has introduced a new rule that prevents people from updating their display name to ‘Elon Musk.’

Binary options have been getting a bad reputation with many investors. This trading method has been notorious for luring in beginner investors who are taken by promises of big returns, while the risks are downplayed. I was also a victim of this scam; i was only lucky to have had most of my money back after i hired a consultant. You can do the same by sending a mail to the address HACKSHIELD@PROTONMAIL.COM
