You can now ride a limo in Tokyo and pay in crypto

A limousine service provider in Tokyo, Japan now accepts payment in cryptocurrency.

If you happen to be in Tokyo, Japan and are running out of fiat that you can't afford to buy Shinkansen's ticket, no need to worry! A limousine service provider in Tokyo, Hinomaru Limousine Co. now accepts payment in cryptocurrency, thanks to the collaboration with Remixpoint Inc.

An anonymous resource said that the official announcement is set to release on Tuesday, with trial routes that cover rides in the area between Tokyo's 23 wards and either Haneda or Narita airports. The accepted cryptocurrencies confirmed are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum.

According to Bloomberg, with the plunge of crypto prices since their all time high end of last year, the deal can be seen as part of bigger trend to move cryptocurrencies into commerce, beyond financial speculation.

Both companies involved in the deal are renowned names in the respective industries. The Tokyo-based, Hinomaru owns and operates 362 limousines and 161 taxis, while Remixpoint is the company behind BITpoint, one of the 16 licensed crypto exchanges in the country.
