Restaurant in Kenya accepts payments in Bitcoin (BTC) and Dash (DASH)

A Kenyan crypto pioneer has recently gained attention for her restaurant that accepts cryptocurrency as payment. Betty's Place, run by Beatrice Wambugu, allows customers to pay in Bitcoin (BTC) as well as Dash (DASH).

The restaurant is located in the rural town of Nyeri, which is about 150km (90 miles) outside Kenya's capital, Nairobi. It has become a major attraction for people, bringing in customers looking for great atmosphere and delicious food, as well as those who want to know more about Bitcoin and other cryptos.

Two years ago, Wambugu bought up a two-storey hotel and converted it into the restaurant. She had made enough money to buy the premises by trading Bitcoin, and now every Sunday she offers classes in trading crypto.

In an interview with the BBC, Wambugu said that since "the world is becoming more global, my place is also becoming a global restaurant...I attract different customers from different parts of the world, whichever coin they have. As long as it's a viable coin we accept it."

So far she has only made around $300 in crypto payments, from around 20 people.
