In an update to a recent report, the Tron foundation has officially confirmed the so-called partnership with Baidu, something many were expecting following prolific rumors. However, the lackluster announcement leaves quite a lot to the imagination…
The Tron foundation tweeted the “announcement” a few hours ago:
#TRON is joining forces with Internet service giant Baidu and will continue to work with large cloud service providers to offer blockchain solutions, make the technology more accessible for users and small business alike. End goal: mass adoption of #blockchain. $TRX pic.twitter.com/v39Zm7zMc4— TRON Foundation (@Tronfoundation) October 18, 2018
This was subsequently retweeted by Justin Sun, Tron’s founder and CEO.
As reported yesterday, it appears that the partnership is less of a strategic development and more of an exchange of services… Baidu has cloud computing resources, and Tron needs cloud computing resources. BAM. PARTNERSHIP.
Assuming the below is accurate, this deserves to be called out as misleading marketing. If I buy a computer with Microsoft Windows installed, I should not claim to have partnered with Microsoft without clarifying the limited nature of the ‘partnership.’ https://t.co/MbOhaYgkvD— Ari Paul (@AriDavidPaul) October 15, 2018
It seems TRON pusher extraordinaire, Justin sun, has announced the announcement of one too many announcements; many of his followers criticized his decision, stating it would be better just to come out and announce the partnership without building hype:
Justin, just announce the name. Tweets like this only allow your followers to romanticize who it could be and most often when people do that, they are let down.— Crypto Kevin (@cryptoskevin) October 12, 2018
justin you REALLY need someone to handle your communications and marketing strategy. you should do some research on the effects of announcing announcements. seriously, this is the big leagues for you now. act like you should be there.— CryptoKilledTheWallStStar (@worker1x) October 12, 2018
Furthermore, following the *actual* announcement much of the previous sentiment was echoed, with users disappointed with a lack of information surrounding the partnership:
Please provide a few more facts on this partnership. Where is the press release? Landing page? What is it really about? Is #TRON just paying for cloud ☁️ resources or is it really about a joint #Blockchain-as-a-service offering? You can do better in terms of communication.— Discord (@DiscordinCrypto) October 18, 2018
If there is more they need to announce it. I was hoping for alibaba and an exchange. Just disappointed how they have approached this. if that’s— Troy (@Troy29960948) October 18, 2018
all the information they have. Nothing from Baidu’s twitter. pic.twitter.com/wIqw0HT0M9
No confirmation from biadu yet.— TattooExposure (@TattooExposure) October 18, 2018
However, others stayed quietly optimistic:
This might not be the partnership @justinsuntron was referring too?🤔 I'm happy either way, I'm sure more details will be released soon. Stay patient!— D4n (@d4np4yn3) October 18, 2018
To be honest I need more time to accumulate more $trx before the next bull run.
It's a cooperation between Baidu and Tron to lay the foundation for Blockchain as a Service BaaS for various uses. It's not about Tron buying cloud services from Baidu...that will not be a cooperation...but stated in the news is Cooperation. #TRON #trx #tron $trx #justinsuntron— alvinchan88 (@alvinchan88) October 18, 2018
Perhaps there is further news surrounding this partnership, only time will tell...
