Coinbase veteran Adam White joins Bakkt team

The CEO of major upcoming crypto eco-system Bakkt has posted an update on the development of the project. Coinbase employee Adam White will now be joining the team at Bakkt.

White is a veteran of Coinbase, being part of the project almost since it was launched, as the company's fifth employee. As of November, he will be bringing this experience to bear on his role as the Chief Operating Officer at Bakkt.

According to the blogpost, White is "an excellent fit with our culture of collaboration, problem solving, integrity and leadership. As a visionary and a strong operator, Adam is a much anticipated addition to our busy team."

In an interview with Forbes, the new COO claimed that the increasing interest from institutional investment was a motivation for him to join Bakkt: "I had a front row seat for the last couple of years watching the money managers’ and other big investors’ evolving views of cryptocurrencies...In 2017, I saw a big shift...The interest in Bitcoin and other currencies started changing from retail to the institutional side. But the level of infrastructure of the existing trading sites often didn’t meet their expectations. That’s why they’re waiting on the sidelines...That’s why I joined Bakkt".
