Gemini adds Litecoin to exchange, BCH listing delayed due to uncertainty

Gemini has announced the addition of Litecoin to their exchange. Starting Tuesday October 16 there will be four LTC trading pairs available on Gemini. Deposits will open on Saturday October 13.

Litecoin will be paired with USD, BTC, ETH and ZEC. For the BTC, ETH and ZEC pairs continuous trading and block trading will be possible. For the USD pair, there is also a daily auction at 4PM Eastern Time.

The addition of Litecoin to the Gemini exchange is an early birthday present for the LTC community. On October 13 it is exactly 7 years ago that the Litecoin network went live, five days after founder Charlie Lee released the project via an open source-client on Github.

Bitcoin Cash listing delayed
Gemini wanted to announce the addition of Bitcoin Cash (BCH) as well today, but has delayed the listing because of 'much uncertainty lately within the Bitcoin Cash community about one or more possible hard forks arriving in mid-November'. Some of those forks lack the replay protection required to be listed on the Gemini exchange. The listing of Bitcoin Cash is now delayed until late November.

Litecoin fourth project on Gemini
Litecoin is the fourth cryptocurrency on the Gemini exchange, that belongs to the Winklevoss twins. Bitcoin, Ethereum and Zcash were already listed.

Gemini claims to be the 'world's most regulated cryptocurrency exchange and custodian, held to the highest standards of banking compliance and fiduciary obligations, and overseen by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDFS)'.

According to the statement of Gemini, 'Litecoin further solidifies Gemini’s standing as the go-to exchange for retail and institutional investors alike. Gemini continues to grow with a "security-first" approach and we have worked closely with the NYSDFS to gain approval for Litecoin trading and custody services.'

Litecoin has made a little jump from $52,78 to $53,51 since the Gemini announcement.
