China's Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) has released the fifth edition of its crypto/blockchain index. EOS came top of the rankings again, with some smaller projects like BitShares and Komodo also placing well.
The CCID's index ranks projects primarily according to the basic level of technology that has been reached in the project's publicly-available chain. The functions, performance, safety and decentralization of the blockchain are all assessed, with 65 percent of the total score being based on how technically accomplished the project is.
Applications of the project, and its level of innovation/creativity are also factored into its ranking, weighted at 20 and 15 percent of the total score, respectively.
EOS finished in first place for the third time since the launch of its mainnet, with previous leader Ethereum coming in just behind in second place. Third place was the relatively unknown BitShares project, with NEO, Steem, Nebulas, and GXChain not far behind.
