Coinbase to remove featured crypto collectible game, War Riders, Apple orders

Apple orders Coinbase to remove War Riders from their iOS wallet featured listing.

Coinbase has been ordered by Apple to remove War Riders, the crypto collectible game from their iOS Wallet’s listing soon after they enabled native support for the game’s NFT (non-fungible token). The native support means that Coinbase Wallet’s users can purchase NFTs, in this case, premium vehicles to play the game, and their purchase will be shown in the wallet.

Although within Apple’s app store review guidelines, there are no specific rules that forbid NFT, the decision towards cryptocurrency and NFTs are often against them. According to Coindesk, Coinbase was once removed from the App Store, as well as Trust Wallet and SaruTobi, a game that allows players to collect Bitcoin.

The company behind the game, Cartified was informed on the decision by one of Coinbase’s staffs via Discord, "Quick heads up – we will be removing from the iOS version as we're not able to highlight dapps that facilitate the purchase of digital goods."

Reacting to the removal decision, the CEO of Cartified, Vlad Kartashov expressed his disappointment by saying, "I'm not sure what's exactly bad with people wanting to play games."

Although the game is currently still undergoing a pre-order for the NFT, in this case, vehicles to be used for playing, Karthasov claimed that they have a “thriving community” already on Discord, where people have been forming clans.

Furthermore, he’s convinced that his game will attract many post-apocalyptic games fans as he said, "The vehicles will also be modernized and will not be from the 70s like it is in the most post-apocalyptic games."

Aside from the NFT, War Riders also allow their players to collect tokens that act as a cryptocurrency and can be used in the real world, called benzene (BZN). However, to be able to do so, the players must ensure their vehicles to get back to the garage, as other players can steal the tokens on the way.
