Italian football club Rimini gets bought with cryptocurrency Quantocoin

According to Forbes, for the first time ever, a football club will be purchased with cryptocurrency. The Italian football club Rimini will sell 25% of its shares to Heritage Sports Holdings, and its partner Quantocoin.

Thanks to the partnership with Quantocoin, Heritage Sports Holdings made the payment in its cryptocurrency of the same name.

President of the Italian football club Rimini, Giorgio Grassi, said:

'Heritage Sports Holdings with its partner Quantocoin will try to bring to the team and to the city new ideas and synergies from the sporting, brand image and technological point of views. Heritage Sports Holdings’ participation is innovative in view of its crypto payment system and the use of blockchain technology, for which Heritage Sports Holdings is already at the forefront in other countries.'

Pablo Dana, a partner at Quantocoin and cryptocurrency investor, said that he believes that cryptocurrency can play a unique role in fighting corruption in a sport that has seen a number of high-profile scandals.

“We are working exactly on the ideas that UEFA want to put into place. This is transparency in football and we are looking to reduce corruption through our Quantocoin platform.” Dana said.

“I think it’s the beginning of something incredible if someone agrees to sell a club worth millions of Euros in cryptocurrency. These are innovators with a very long-term view. I think sports companies will start to use cryptocurrencies far more frequently and we have made history by being the first one.”

Dana, previously already decided, through the Quantocoin initiative, to pay players with digital currencies.
