MtGOX announces that creditors can now submit claims over their losses

Coindesk is reporting today that Nobuaki Kobayashi, a trustee of MtGOX, released a pdf on Thursday explaining how users and creditors can file a claim for the losses they suffered from the exchange.

It seems the window to submit will extend into next year. From the statement:

"The planned deadline for the Rehabilitation Trustee to submit a statement of approval or rejection to the court is January 24, 2019, but, at the current point in time, a definite date has not been determined."

Creditors from MtGOX are currently filing a petition to see their funds returned in the cryptocurrencies they lost, rather than the cash value of those cryptos at the time of the collapse.

MtGOX declared bankruptcy back in 2014 after a major hack saw them lose 744,000 BTC. It is perhaps to this day the single biggest crypto disasters in the short history of the currencies.

Will these claims be paid out in the original crypto? Stay tuned to Chepicap to find out.
