One of the managing directors of Citibank will soon join Block.one, founder of the EOS blockchain. Currently serving as Human Resources Managing Director for the financial services giant, James Mendes will join Block.one as Chief People Officer later this year.
Mendes is based in Hong Kong, and he will serve as a member of the Block.one Executive Committee, reporting to Block.one Group President Rob Jesudason.
Block.one is the publisher of the EOSIO blockchain software protocol as well as the seller of the EOS crypo token. The organization has faced some criticism over the last month or so following the troubled launch of its mainnet, and many observers have suggested that its considerable influence over the EOS block producer election process effectively amounts to centralization. However, the huge potential of the EOS blockchain in terms of scalability and other factors has ensured its continued position as one of the top 10 cryptos.
According to Mendes, "Block.one’s innovation is laying the groundwork for mass adoption of scalable blockchain technologies. Our position as a global leader in blockchain software allows us to attract and develop the world’s best talent. I am excited to come on board and support the growth and development of the Group’s global operations"
