India’s Minister of State for Finance says no ban on crypto is coming

It is being reported by BTCMANAGER that recently the Indian Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur, went on the record as saying there is no ban on digital currency in the country. This comes after rumors spread that a ban on all crypto in India was imminent.

Recently at a parliamentary session of the upper house of India’s parliament, Dharmapuri Srinivas asked Anurag Thakur if the government outright banned cryptocurrency. To this, Thakur said "No." When asked if there were any penalties associated with using cryptocurrencies, Thakur said the following:

"Presently, there is no separate law for dealing with issues relating to cryptocurrencies. Further, in view of the risks and dangers associated with cryptocurrencies, Government and RBI have been issuing advisories, press releases, and circulars to the public."

This should come as an optimistic start for crypto acceptance in India. Hopefully soon we will see some true regulation of crypto in the nation, bringing it to an even higher legal status. In the meantime, stick with Chepicap for all updates!
