BitTorrent Token (BTT) is now a payment option on CoinGate

BitTorrent Token (BTT) has recently taken a significant step forward in terms of further adoption. BTT is now supported by popular cryptocurrency payment gateway CoinGate.

BitTorrent Token (BTT) was launched at the start of 2019, backed by Justin Sun's Tron (TRX) project, and it is intended for use as part of the BitTorrent filesharing platform's eco-system.

The BTT crypto is built on the TRX blockchain, and BitTorrent will also be making use of this network in order to develop new dApps. BitTorrent Speed, a new plug-in that is aimed at improving the efficiency of BitTorrent filesharing by allowing peers to send BTT in order to gain priority access, launched in a testnet version at the start of July.

Based in Lithuania, CoinGate has been operating since 2014, as a way for sites to easily enable merchants and consumers to send and receive payments in crypto. The platform has processed well over 200,000 payments for over 4,000 online retailers, and recently added support for XRP as well as Nano (NANO) and the DAI stablecoin. It also enables users to purchase crypto directly, using a credit card.
