Tor Project holds BTC donation drive, gets 100% of goal in single day

It has been reported by Bitcoinist that the Tor Project recently teamed up with Bitpay to launch a donation drive, powered entirely by Bitcoin. It seems support for Tor is still strong, as the team has apparently already raised their entire goal of $10,000, and it took just over one day.

The Tor Project are the folks behind the Tor browser, a browser with a focus on privacy and security that is largely supported by community volunteers. The philosophy of Tor aligns well with that of Bitcoin, and many users who support one use the other.

The fact that the team was able to hit the softcap goal in just 25 hours is an impressive feat, and the campaign still has 12 days to go! Many on twitter were openly supportive of the endeavor:

It is encouraging to see so much enthusiasm for privacy in this modern internet age. Hopefully more people begin supporting projects like this, not to mention cryptocurrency. Will this money help the Tor Project bring anonymity to more people? Stick with Chepicap for all updates!
