Someone buys $20,000 domain name to troll Craig Wright

Some unknown person has spent over $20,000 on domain name and has used it mercilessly make fun of Craig Wright, Bitcoin SV creator and self-proclaimed Bitcoin inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto, CCN reports.

The troll has decided to use the domain name as a forward Craig Wright’s official Wikipedia page. Weirdly enough, there are several “loser” domain names available, leaving several opportunities open for a Craig Wright supporter to launch a counterattack.

Given how trigger happy Cright Wright is in issuing lawsuits, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. However, since the domain registration is private, it’s likely that we’ll never know who is behind the hoax. With that being said, a valid subpoena is enough to have the registration information overturned.

However, according to Lexology, there are rules that exist when registering a domain name with the intent of using it to defame someone. If the person complaining can prove that the domain was registered with the intent of defaming them, it’s enough cause for a suspension of that domain.

This “bad faith” clause could be enough for Wright to acquire ownership of the domain used to poke fun at him. However, it’s unknown if calling someone a “loser” is even considered defamation.
