Craig Wright says Satoshi was never meant to be a mysterious figure

Craig Wright, one of the crypto space’s most controversial figures for his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto, has written a post on his website explaining that Bitcoin was never a cyberpunk thing and he didn't want Satoshi Nakamoto becoming a "mysterious shadowy figure."

In an article on his website, Craig Wright states he had written an email to Gaven Andresen asking him to stop talking about him “as a mysterious shadowy figure,” explaining that the press would twist it into a “pirate currency angle.”

He goes on to further state that Bitcoin was never a cyberpunk creation and was actually opposed to those who thought of it that way. his website reads:

“Bitcoin was never a cypherpunk experiment. I left the Cypherpunks mailing list in the ‘90s because I couldn’t stand people like Julian Assange. I couldn’t stand what some of the people there stood for. I was the opposite of many others on the cryptography mailing list. Even those people I liked, such as Tim May, held concepts that I could not stand.”

As EthereumWorldNews notes, it's particularly interesting to note that, Satoshi Nakamoto shared Bitcoin specifically with the cyberpunk community on the metzdown mailing list.

Furthermore, Wright states he never supported the cyberpunk community, but they way Satoshi though in the early days of Bitcoin is very similar to the cyberpunk philosophy, which states:

“Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age. Privacy is not secrecy. A private matter is something one doesn't want the whole world to know, but a secret matter is something one doesn't want anybody to know. Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world.”
