Facebook now has over 100 employees working on cryptocurrency project

Facebook continues to push for the launch of it's very own cryptocurrency, which is set to launch later this month as Globalcoin

Facebook will look to launch their own cryptocurrency this month, following recent announcements that the company is almost set for launch. Facebook have also mentioned that employees will be able to accept GlobalCoin as a method of payment for salaries.

GlobalCoin now has over 100 employees working on the project according to CNBC, who state that "there are now more than 100 people working on the project, according to information on LinkedIn, and Facebook is still expanding the team. The company has more than 40 openings for the business unit, according to the Facebook careers website."

Facebook looks set to offer a worldwide digital asset solution that could greatly increase adoption with integration of the cryptocurrency expected to be added to Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp.

Head of Facebook's blockchain project David Marcus commented on the project saying "Our ultimate goal is to help billions of people with access to things they don’t have now — that could be things like healthcare, equitable financial services, or new ways to save or share information."

Very little has been released about the blockchain project, although it is believed that Facebook will announce and possibly launch the project this month.
