The Bitcoin trademark was once registered to Pablo Escobar's brother...

It’s been revealed that before Craig Wright, the Bitcoin trademark was registered to the brother of the infamous drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar…

A document from the United States Patent and Trademark Office offers irrevocable proof that Roberto Escobar – Pablo Escobar’s brother- was once the main signatory on the Bitcoin trademark.

According to CCN, The U.S trademark office document 88055293 divulges that ownership of Bitcoins trademark was once registered under Coin Legal Ltd, a company led by Olof Kyros Gustafsson, Gustaffson also cites being CEO of Escobar Inc. and signed the trademark alongside Roberto Escobar:

When Craig Wright (also known as Faketoshi by the crypto community) decided to claim Bitcoin’s trademark for himself, Escobar was still in control of the rights, therefore Wright’s claim enacted a six-month period for which Escobar to contest the claim:

“To avoid abandonment of applicant’s trademark application, the USPTO must receive applicant’s complete response to this letter within 6 months of the issue/mailing date below,” the document stipulated

No such challenge was made.

Despite the rights to the bitcoin trademark being granted, the copyright office was forced to release an official statement clarifying that the registration of rights to a trademark didn’t equal an admission by the US government that Wright was Satoshi Nakamoto:

A registration represents a claim to an interest in a work protected by copyright law, not a determination of the truth of the claims therein.

In fact, as pointed out by Chepicap’s David Borman, anyone with a spare $55 can register a copyright online…
